Going upward takes courage, but letting go requires trust.
Before photographing this Arc’teryx Community Class, I took a climbing lesson myself.
Rather than simply picking up my camera, I wanted to first understand the sport and the community built around it. I believe that meaningful images come from genuine understanding and personal experience.
What stayed with me the most wasn’t reaching the top of the 25-meter wall, but the moment of letting go during the descent. It required true trust — trust in the instructor, trust in the equipment, and the willingness to place my trust in the process.
For me, photography is not just about pressing the shutter. It begins with understanding a sport, a community, and the people within it, allowing the images to tell a more authentic story.
